Vacancy – Civil Engineer
Are you a civil engineer looking for the opportunity to develop your experience with a specialist engineering consultant working on challenging infrastructure projects where you can make a real difference?
We are seeking a motivated Civil Engineer with 2 – 5 years’ experience to join our growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a civil engineer looking to develop their major project experience, technical capability, commercial awareness and client-facing skills while working on high-profile infrastructure projects in the UK and worldwide.
You will work as part of the construction management and/or construction planning teams, alongside senior engineers, planners and project managers across a range of commissions.

- London (site-based or office work), with occasional travel expected

Key Responsibilities
- Support the delivery of civil engineering services across infrastructure and construction projects.
- Assist with engineering management tasks.
- Assist with the development and review of construction methodologies, logistics planning and technical reports.
- Provide technical input to project planning, construction sequencing, and risk assessments.
- Review drawings, specifications, quantities take-off and technical documentation.
- Support site activities including inspections, progress reviews and coordination with contractors.
- Assist with programme, cost and risk inputs in collaboration with planning teams.
- Contribute to client meetings, workshops and reporting under the guidance of senior staff.
- Ensure work is delivered in line with relevant standards, safety requirements and quality procedures.
Required skills and experience
- Degree in Civil Engineering / Mining Engineering / Geology (or closely related discipline).
- 2 – 5 years’ post-graduate experience in civil engineering or construction-related roles.
- Exposure to infrastructure or major construction projects (rail, highways, utilities, buildings or similar).
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and specifications..
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
- A proactive, collaborative and professional approach.
Desirable skills and attributes
- Experience working with consultants, contractors or client organisations.
- Familiarity with construction planning, sequencing or site-based delivery is preferable.
- Exposure to digital tools such as BIM, project management systems or data/reporting platforms is preferable.
- Progress toward professional chartership (ICE or similar).

Vacancy – Construction P6 Planner
Are you a Planner with civil engineering or construction experience looking for the opportunity to work with a specialist engineering consultant on challenging infrastructure projects where you can make a real difference?
LBA is looking to recruit a P6 construction planner with a civil engineering or construction background to work on multi-disciplinary railway projects. In this full-time role, the successful applicant will work within the construction and logistics team.
This is a great opportunity for a planner looking to progress their career, develop their planning skills and overall project experience working with a highly experienced team.
Responsibilities & duties:
- Develop and maintain various construction programmes including sub-elements such as structures and earthworks, working with the senior construction planners.
- Use Primavera P6 software to build programmes and deal with alterations.
- Use a disciplined approach to produce comprehensive and professional programmes, including records of construction planning, production rates and programme assumptions.
- Manage programme alterations and updates on a range of civil and / or engineering schemes.
- Report the progress of programme development to the LBA commission manager, including highlighting any areas of concern or planning issues and proposing mitigation measures.
- Update the construction programme following Change Control procedure.
- Co-ordinate input from all disciplines, e.g. design, geotechnical, environmental, utilities etc, into the programme.
- Respond to programme enquiries from the client and from other engineering and environmental disciplines.
- Support the successful delivery of logically linked programmes that comply with planning standards and client requirements.
- Continuously monitor programmes to ensure they are updated to accurately reflect progress and reflect any revised forecast of the works.
- Contribute to the basis of construction programme reports which support the construction programmes and other technical reports as required.
Essential experience / qualifications:
- Three to five years’ previous experience as a P6 planner, preferably within the construction and civil engineering sector.
- HNC / Degree-level qualification in civil engineering or construction discipline.
- Strong working knowledge of Primavera planning software.
- Excellent time management and organisational skills.
Desired experience:
- Proficient use of Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- Knowledge of TILOS or willing to learn TILOS will be a bonus.
